cold/sinus meds question

I have had a nasty cold for a week now and I am afraid it is turning into a sinus infection. I am at the point where I feel like I should do more to treat this cold than sinus rinses (I use the Neil Med sinus system) but I have no idea how cold meds impact UC. I would love to take mucinex (plain) but somehow the thought of taking a drug that thins mucus seems like a bad idea UC wise. Anyone have any experience with it? Since I have kids I have the liquid form and am not opposed to taking only a half dose...
Perhaps I should also add that I have had pink mucus with my first BM of the day for the past 3 days, my UC is definitely worse with this cold.

Mucinex is fine as well as most cold meds that do not contain NSAIDs such as Sudafed or Tylonel cold/sinus.

Thanks, I think I will give it a try, the headaches are brutal and my sinuses are not draining at all...

I took Mucinex and it didn't bother my UC. It didn't do much to help my cold, either.

I remember the first time I thought about taking Mucinex. I was terrified. I think I finally had to suck it up and do it and I don't remember going through anything horrible.

Sudafed doesn't contain NSAID, it's a decongestant.

I use the pseudoephedrine store generic, not the Sudafed PE, but the Sudafed PE would be a good start. OR, try the Tylenol Sinus.

We don't have Mucinex here, but I use Expectorant for chest congestion by Robitussin. It does have sorbitol, but it doesn't seem to bother me, thankfully.

Don't take antihistamines or anything for cough suppression unless it's at night so you can sleep.

I also take L-Lysine 1000mg twice daily during a cold.
