Thanks guys. I saw the Optometrist today (Sunday). She is referring me to an Ophthalmologist who is a Dry Eye Specialist. Apparently my GP didn't refer me to the right one. Ugh.
She said the eyes lubricate by two methods (A) tears and (B) oils. She said my tears are working at 150%. But my oil glands are not working right. She mentioned a bunch of eye drops (Restasis and also the custom made oil drops (autologously made at a special pharmacy from my blood sample).
She said that during the day, we can get by with tears, but at night we reply on OILS to keep our eyes lubricated (e.g. not blinking.) This explains why I am DRY mostly at NIGHT.
She mentioned the Hot Compresses, as you say, Alice22. She said not just very warm but as HOT as I can stand. Like, boil a kettle and let it cool type 'hot'. =:O
She also mentioned taking high doses of Omega 3s as they can help.
She said I may recover my ability to wear contacts, but may have to wear a special kind for dry eye and wear them just a few hours at a time.
Thanks of all your help here.
