uceris ?

has anyone ever taken it? if so, did it work? what side effects did it give you? my doctor gave me a few samples today and a prescription to fill in a week. just wanted to know some peoples opinions.

I have severe pan-colitis. It didn't work for me. It didn't really even make dent in my symptoms.

I didn't notice any side effects. I think it increased my urgency somewhat because it deploys in the colon and sort of adds a viscous layer.

There are a lot of people on here that Uceris has worked for. It sounds like it has been very effective in mild to moderate cases.

If your insurance covers it, in my opinion this is a low risk, potentially very effective treatment.

I notice you were treated for CDiff. Have you considered a pro-biotic supplement? This could help protect you from CDiff in the future. It works by keeping a high level of "good bacteria" in your body. The bad bacteria have difficulty multiplying with the competition.

Taking pro-biotics requires an adjustment period. It causes an increase in bathroom visits until your system gets in balance. It took me a couple of months of slowly building up the pro-biotics in my body to get normalized.

Also, go to the Uceris website, they had some program that saved me $75 off my co-pay and it was only $25 instead of the $100.

zoo, im sorry to hear the medication didn't work for you. i started today so fingers crossed that i feel some what better in a couple of days. about the probiotic, when i got my first bout of c.diff i was taking align. when i got off my antibiotics i had a relapse so i kind of put the probiotics off to the side as not working. i should try to stick them out as they are good for you.

Gary, i never looked into how much its gonna cost me. my Dr gave me a copay card so hopefully that will help with the cost. but, i feel like if it works for me, then the price might hurt but it'll be worth it!

I have read of monthly Uceris costs being in the $1000 - $1300 per month range, no insurance. Some insurances will not cover or will cover at a very high cost. It is worth checking out beforehand to see what the damage is going to be to you.

I think Uceris cost me $20 but I love those sheets they give you with the side effects and stuff and on the top it says "retail value" which I believe for Uceris was over $1100. For just a 30 day supply. Thank goodness for insurance. Especially since Uceris didn't do didly squat for me.
