That horrible flare is gone!! Thanks to supplements

My last flare was in january of 2013, which lasted a month and dissipated once I started supplementing with 2tsp slippery elm nightly, lose dose of turmeric and dietary changes. At the end of august, my stools were becoming less and less formed. My parents visited in early september, I accidentally consumed gluten at restaurants, and by the end of september, I was in a very harsh flare. Blood & pain by the very beginning of october. I had a phone consult with my naturopathic doc on Oct 11th, and he told me to do the following:

Inflaguard - 3-4 pills 3-4 times per day / or turmeric capsules 600mg 3-4 pills 3-4 times per day
Aloe Vera gel - 3oz 2-3 times per day - diluted in water or not
A fast/modified fast - either water or veggie juice fast for a few days. Or, something like chicken soup for a while. Or, even better, Ultra-InflammX (google it) for a few days to a week (3-5 servings per day) and nothing else if you can do it.
Slippery Elm is also fine in whatever amount you want to take it

After one week, pain was no longer a bother during the day until bathroom trips.
After two weeks, symptoms were better
I'm past week three and i'm doing fantastic! So thankful. I also attribute this to keeping up with my faith.

My doctor keeps drawing insight from a study that involved the supplement Inflaguard being compared to taking low dose prednisone for symptom management. I must find this study, or more on turmeric!

This is my experience and I hope to support others, maybe you can all try in addition to meds?

Fantastic. Fasting never helped me tbh. But some people it may help. I just lost weight and continued to bleed and be in pain. But inflagard fast is different i guess.

Thanks for the support! It's probably the most expensive regimen I've been on, considering that I need 12-16 capsules a day, when supplement containers of 30-60 usually have a price tag of $10-30 bucks. But hey, its worth it for me. :)

Wow, good news. I am happy for you. I hope it remains as it is.

I can do the rest 3 stuff but fasting is not cup of tea. I nibble all day long, any gap more than 4 hours triggers migraine.

I'm going to try the aloe Vera gel. Does it need to be a special kind? I've never had it before.

kiptyn, I used the Lily of the desert whole leaf juice. But, my doctor believes that the turmeric capsules have done the job. 6000mg or 6g of turmeric daily is alot of anti-inflammatory herb! It can be pricy having to buy 60ct capsules every 5-10 days but worth it! I've never been so regular.

FYI, I take Life Extension's Super Bio-Curcumin because:

Each 400 mg capsule of Super Bio-Curcumin® is equivalent to 2,772 mg of a typical 95% curcumin extract.

And I take 2 capsules daily.



I haven't done the math, but this may be cheaper than 12 pills of the other brand?
