Hi there!
I just wanted to talk about meds each of us taking - because it might help someone.
Few words about myself: I'm from Russia, 26, diagnosed UC in 2006, tough time...
As I understood in the USA you mostly take prednisolone, isn't it? Yeah, I know that we've got different Healthcare system, but do you have any choice or not?
When I was diagnosed UC and got to hospital, I was taking pred. for a few months, due to my poor condition... Then I started taking Budenofalk and Salofalk (both in pills). My doctor is very careful, so that time she decided to stay on meds as long as possible. So I was taking Budenofalk for about a year or 16months (don't remember exactly), after that I was taking Salofalk only, and by the 2008 I was taking somewhere about 2,0 grams of it. After that I had more than 5 years of great way of life - swimming pool, gym, skydiving, bicycle... No diet at all I'd say.
Last year I changed my job and moved to another city (it was a long business trip). The work was very nervous and difficult in emotional plan, so in September (after food poisoning and a short cold) I got my UC that stroke back. The same, it was quite hard time, but I increased Salofalk doze up to 4,0g, started taking hydrocortisone (per rectum) - my disease slowed down. Then I finally got Budenofalk pills (it was a problem to get it in the country) and in 2,5 weeks I'm almost healthy as it can be (touch wood): syncytium forming unit has dropped from 43 to 10.
And by the way! I tried acupuncture - it really helps. I remember 2 weeks ago (when I started it) in the morning I felt weak and constraint in my stomach, after my first session in few hours I felt much better! (At this time I hadn't started taking Budenofalk yet)
May be that helps someone:)
PS: I read an article on TSO. As I understood it's been used for almost 10 years (or even more) in the USE, or what? Does it really help?
