I was on remicade for 1 1/2 years or so and stop it due to getting pregnant with my 3rd child. I would have stayed on it but my GI doc wouldn't do it. My OB found a doc that would but I decided against it b/c I wasn't having any problems at the time and we were getting ready to move so I would have had to change GI docs 2 times. I had been in remission since I started the remicade. Well as soon as I had my son it all came back full force! He is almost 3 months old now and I just had my colonoscopy a few days ago (insurance took forever to get it approved). My GI didn't want to start me on anything other than lialda until I had the colonoscopy so he would know how bad it was. At the doc appt we had decided that I would go back on the remicade if it was bad enough. While I was being prepped for the colonoscopy he asked me if I had ever thought about humira. I go for my follow up on Wednesday and I don't know which way to go! Remicade worked so well for me in the past but what if it doesn't this time? And I have a newborn that I would have to take to the hospital with me for the injections (they don't do them in the office). I don't know if I will be able to handle giving myself shots with humira. Any suggestions? How bad are the shots? TIA!
