AguywithUc: I thought you were still in remission from the navy beans? last time i saw your posts was about 1 month ago and you posted about how you got off the pred without any issues thanks to the navy beans.
When did you flare and how? Did you stop the navy beans again and that's how you flared?
Free junk food at office startup upset diversity in gut. I became gassy and laid off also was in 'Learning Mode' and wanted to see if it had a lasting effect.
Mistake - kept eating all the junk RS allowed me to without the RS
Mistake - went to goodby lunch with work crew at 'going out of business mexican hole in the wall'
Mistake - I got food poisoning, in pain that night
Flare was underway and transit time quickened - no chance to get BACK ON RS at that point.
New doc wanted me to try Apriso - Apriso sent me over the edge into blood.
Fought the good fight for 4 week before going downhill rapidly.
Had things turned around but new GI wanted Colonoscopy so that was a restart on recovery.
New DOC argued with me about
imuran, told her I will stop being guinea pig and play RS conservative with ASACOL HD. She gives me crappy little tapers that are not enough because she wants pred to fail so she can get me on imuran.
GP gets what I am doing, showed him bloodwork self-pay 6 weeks in a row and ASASCOL HD plunged all numbers neutrophils, wbc, platelets I graphed them and it was 30-70% drop, a bounce part way backup but real nice and trending down slowly.
Also Qing Dai helps so when the transit time became more normal 2 weeks ago I reintroduced RS and all pain ( was so bad body would salivate to vomit on every BM ) disappeared and nearly no urgency, certainly not waking me up at night anymore.
Sooo never again do I stop the shield, RS is long term mandatory maintenance. Learning mode is done. Conservative mode is on with my first ever maintenance med that proved to work because I happened to be monitoring bloodwork.
Qing Dai gets people off pednisone with intractable UC.
This is my plan for long term remission. If I ever fail ON the RS diet then I have to face biologics.
So far that has NEVER happened. I can eat anything on RS diet.
