If you've never been hypnotized it might be hard to get the timing and pattern right but it won't hurt to try. Don't ever listen to it while driving or similar (duh, right?).
One of the
most important concepts I learned is never use the negative while talking to your subconscious. Such as not saying "I will not be afraid... or I don't get upset" because the unconscious does not recognize the negative words, filters them out per se.
You must only use
positive images and actions such as "I feel calm when I am driving and will be able to handle whatever comes up."
Similar to what you mention as an "off" switch my hypnotist gave me a color (red) and whenever I see it I can become less stressed (if I choose to do that). She didn't ask me what color I liked and red is not it haha but it works. You'd be amazed at how many red objects there are in the world and I can always find one when needed.
There is no UC script
in this book, you'll need to create your own by deciding what you wish to improve and/or change. I like the fact that it's my own voice talking to me but I also liked the woman hypnotist too. She said I was not "easy" to hypnotize which I understand, not being too trusting of strangers when I am under their control. Still valuable and glad I did it.
Consider going to a professional at least once if your budget allows it and you find someone you trust.
