What's up all? I ran my first half marathon last Sunday! Just wanted to give all of you who are struggling some hope that things can get better and life can get back to normal once you find the right meds/diet/exercise regime. Hope everyone is hanging in there. I'm still in remission -- yay!

Thanks guys! :) It felt awesome crossing that finish line!
soystud -- Yep, I'm still 100% vegan! :) I've been running consistently since the beginning of September. I just started running last March, never was a runner before that, but then I took a couple months off this summer due to injury and other things going on in my personal life. NO BATHROOM ISSUES during the race!!!!!!!! Woohoo!!!!!!! :)
bananagirl -- I would LOVE to do a CCFA half. I'll have to look into it. It was a challenge, but I know you could do it girl! I was super lucky I've been in remission since March.

hmmmm, maybe I should give that vegan thing another try -------
I'm pretty sure it was joanna's leather thong that did her in - I shouldn't have to worry about
that ;-)
hmmmmm ?
so what are you doing for fat and protein sara ?

Highly recommend it, soystud! I eat a very healthy diet of mostly plant-based whole foods: lots of veggies and fruits, nuts/seeds/nut butters, avocados, whole grains, the occasional tofu/tempeh/soy product. I still have vegan treats sometimes but do try to limit sugar since it aggravates my UC and is unhealthy in general. Been in remission since March and I rarely get sick with colds or anything else since I've started exercising a lot and eating this way.
Thanks, ActiveUCer!

Im gonna assume by "real food" you mean dead animal carcasses. ;)
2 years vegan. 8 prior as vegetarian.

oh, so that means you're one of those "ethnic" vegans ;-)
hmmmm -
so I'm not too good at mathamantics, but according to my calculus, you were vegetarian when you "came down with uc ?
did you have any weird issues (non regular uc) before you officially got sick ?

I think you mean ethical (ethnic means somehing far different) and thanks for making assumptions about
me. But yes I believe it is wrong to murder animals because you like the taste of them.
Yes I got UC while I was a vegetarian. And no issues prior.

sorry, I try not to be too serious here, or anywhere else for that matter -
just so you know, I was an ethnic vegan when you were still in jr high - I only stopped when I came down with crappy ass syndrome (uc) - now I'm an ethnic carnivore
just thought I'd ask a few questions about
your history, but I seem to have ruffled some feathers -
my apologies -
