Took my kids ice skating, fell and hit my head really hard. I just got back from ER...I have a concussion! Let this be a lesson: wear a helmet! The doctor said I'm now under football rules no activity for 5 days and taking Zofran.

uhh ohh!!! i think you'd be the only person wearing a helmet ice skating!! haha but it might be worth it to look ridiculous.
i got a concussion last year when i was doing flips at the gym. my feet slipped off the gymnastics mat and i smacked my head on the concrete. i knew it hurt a lot but it wasn't til i got home and showed my sister my head. she started freaking out and said it was bleeding so we went to the ER. luckily, they take head injuries seriously so i was seen right away. i felt like i was on a boat for a week. just dizzy all the time.

bananagirl, that's the perfect way to describe how I feel...sea sick! Yes, my head hurts, slightly nauseous and just a general feeling like my head isn't "right"...and off balance.
soystud, it happened sooo quickly...one of my twin sons called my name and I turned around and BAM! Totally taken off guard.

Accidents can happen in the blink of an eye. It could've been worse but sorry that it happened to you. I've never had a concussion but my son has by diving head first into a pool, missed the deep section and smacked his head in the shallow end. He was also "off", glassy eyes and very dizzy. His dizziness lasted for about
3 days.

madpotter...sounds like you're on a roll! omg, it's good it wasn't worse, but still serious when you hit your head. Who cares about
wearing a helmet...get a cool one!
Especially if you're not a regular skater and have to keep an eye on kids.
Please take care!
LoL...soystud!

Still down for the count. Having a concussion is a bizarre experience. I hit a wall everyday where I feel really bad and have to lay down with a heating pad. I get nausea and headaches and lose my balance. The nurse and CT scanner guy in the ER both said the rink I went to was dangerous....ice is too choppy...not using the zamboni enough I guess. Houston has three or four other ice rinks believe it or not. I had to choose the most dangerous, apparently. I've been to that rink before and I'm not a terrible skater. The skate guards wear helmets, why didn't I???

I'll bet you were envisioning the adventure more as trying to get to that toilet with your pants around your ankles on skates. Oh, maybe even a concussion would be better than that.
Hope you feel better soon.
