OT - Christmas Gift For Fiancee?

I'm stuck at home healing from a tonsillectomy, but need to figure out a few Christmas gifts still. I put off my shopping this year because I was swamped, and now I'm thinking it's time to figure something out.

My fiancee does not want much of anything. But I messed up and said I wanted to do a gift exchange with her, lol... so, she has something for me and I need to figure something out!

I usually am a person that either gets something very useful, very touching, or doesn't get anything.

I have the receipt still from the first time we met for coffee (we met on match.com, but met at a starbucks the first time we met). I thought of framing it up modestly, and working up something romantic to put on the frame or buy a frame that has a romantic saying.

I've been holding that receipt for a good occasion. Either I use it now, or it comes about around the time we marry in April.

Any thoughts or other ideas? I still am considering a spa package possibly. The girls at the bank I go to scolded me for not getting anything for her yet, and told me to do this.

I don't wear a lot of jewelry, so what DH has gotten for me is very special.

Spa is more personal if it is for both of you instead of just 'shipping her off', but she could use it for pre-wedding stuff too.

I think a pair of anything would great under the tree ........

motorcycles, snowmobiles, quads, you know, the kind of stuff that makes a girl happy !

I like your receipt idea. Always been sentimental though...those are the kinds of gifts I do. The spa together is a good ides too...anything done together.

I dunno... I'm sure my husband would love to be shipped off to the spa for a day of pampering without me.
he's been putting up with this flare for 5 months too! Lol
I'm sure a couples massage interrupted by me needing to run to the bathroom, wouldn't be very appealing to him, lol.

The receipt is awesome! You paid for her right? :D

If this is your first Christmas as engaged I vote for a small piece of jewelry, nothing more sentimental than that. A silver chain with a simple pendant (not silver-plate mind you). Her initial (first name) or an open heart shape come to mind. You can buy online easy-peasy, etsy.com, amazon.com.

Girls like something they can show off to others, they get positive feedback.

Having said this I'm getting my long-time spouse two massage gift certificates, 1 each to two different masseuses so he can decide which he likes better and continue doing this once a month in 2014.
I've been reading about massage and how it turns on endorphins, turns off depression and is generally therapeutic. (Oh yeah he's also getting an inexpensive quad-copter to play with that he will not buy for himself but he will really love).

Ima: I love your idea for a small piece of jewelry. However, I don't have time to order online and get it here in time most likely. I cannot drive while on the narcotics for tonsillectomy pain, but my fiancee's dad is driving me around tomorrow to close on a rental property and gift shop for her. Perhaps I could find something at one of the jewelers in the city??

Thoreau, I wouldn't plan on doing any more than what's absolutely necessary tomorrow! You don't want to overdo it at this point in your recovery.

I like the idea of framing the receipt, but that might be a more special gift to give when you guys get married. Then maybe you could get a frame that has a spot to include a wedding picture as well.

I like the receipt idea too. If you go with the framed receipt and a nice card I'd put a starbucks gift card in it so she has to go to Starbucks to use the card and she'll remember your first date and your gift of the framed receipt each time she uses her Starbucks gift card.

Should probably put a pair of beds under the tree too, huh Soy? Obviously wouldn't be sleeping in the same bed after that Christmas! ;-)

Soyman, a neighbor of mine once bought his wife a tablesaw for an anniversary gift, boy was she pissed off. I am sure he was sleeping in the guest bedroom for quite a while afterwards.

What is your budget? We can help ;) amazon and overstock should both make it by christmas if you order today.

I vote jewelry, something simple but nice. Id save the receipt for a wedding or dating anniversary.

Thoreau, what about pearl earrings? Simple, tasteful. Maybe she'll wear them on your wedding day. I personally love pearls. All kinds.
