It started last night and is continuing on today. I'm peeing a lot! Today's it's about
every 1/2 hour to hour. The Internet lists change in urine frequency as a serious side effect of asacol, which I am on. What do I do????

that usually happens to me with Predisone, when I either start taking them or tapper off. If you think it is an issue then it is best to call your GI's office.

Called my pharmacist-said urine frequency is a rare, but listed side effect of asacol. He said I need to talk to doctor and have kidneys checked. Of course I can't see my doctor until the new year now

I have had that happen to me once in a while for absolutely no reason. How long has it been going on? If it's just today, maybe you will be better in a day or two. How long have you been on Asacol?

I have some days where I go quite frequently. I think its because I have been retaining water. Usually for me it happens in the evening.

I've only been on the asacol three weeks or less. It just started last night and continued on to today. Here's hoping its a short lived thing *fingers crossed*

There is an over the counter UTI test you can get at the pharmacy. It would at least rule that out as a possibility.
I will say that anytime I have switched meds I also notice an increase in both thirst and urination until my body adjusts.
Another thought is that you could go to an urgent care center if it continues and you don't want to wait until the new year. I would think they could do bloodwork to check your kidneys.

I'm not convinced at this point it's the med....
How much water are you taking in? do you drink tea, coffee or any other herbals that could be diuretic?
You do, however, need a urine test....so call the doc and have one done asap.

Well, I spoke to the pharmacist who didn't think it was too big of a deal to wait until my apt in January. Today seems less intense. Yesterday was a bad day all around with an increase in the poopin, cramping and all...so maybe it was related to that and not my meds. Who knows, this is all so annoying.
