OT - Agh! These spots won't stop spreading!

So as most of you know, I have ringworm. I've been on an otc anti-fungal cream for 4 weeks and when that didn't work, seen the doc and got a prescription strength anti-fungal cream. The source of it came from 2 rings on my breasts but now they are spreading. How can that be?? I have been on the cream for so long, wouldn't that stop it from spreading?? I went from 2 spots to 11...they don't itch except the one I have on my arm. I don't even know how it's spreading. I keep these areas covered at all times, I have been even sleeping in long sleeves because I have 4 on my arms. I don't share towels with anyone, I've been washing my sheets daily (which is a pain because I have a waterbed). If they continue to spread, I guess I am going to have to go in for an oral anti-fungal. And to top it off, I am due for my Remicade on Monday so I don't know if it's going to help or make it worse! mad

I must have had the same thing a few months ago too because my doctor recommended selsum blue and it worked for me too. I have wondered though does having this rash mean I (we) could also have a systemic yeast or fungi overgrowth?

I will give Selsum Blue a try then. Perhaps I should wash myself with it? I don't want to leave it on my skin because me and my daughter are very alike genetically and she had versicolor, left it on her skin and it burned her. (Both her and I also have the same skin reactions to band aids and adhesives).

Can they give you an oral? It sounds like maybe the cream isn't doing it. Maybe a few more days and you will see some results though. I hope so.

If you have it that bad I would think you should be taking oral meds for it, not just RX cream. I used oil of oregano to clear one small patch up back in September and it worked well.

I just posted a thread about Remicade and ringworm because I too have just developed another small patch which I'm sure is ringworm and was wondering if it would be a reason they might hold off starting me on remicade or not.

Sherry....did the doc do a scraping and have a culture done?

Some skin stuff can mimic others, especially ringworm.

Did they dx ring worm specifically by skin scraping? Lotsa things look like ringworm and lotsa folks, even derms make mistakes doing sight dx

even if it is just ringworm, the remi complicates things because it allows things to be systemic when they wouldnt be normally.
