Changing soiled diaper/clothes at work

Regardless of whether you are wearing a diaper or not (they can leak contents into your pants as well) you should have an emergency kit consisting of a change of pants, wet wipes, and a ziplock bag you can put soiled clothes in (a seal-able bag helps reduce the smell). Luckily, most restrooms have paper towels, tp, soap, and running water which is mostly what you need to clean up. My work also has a couple bathrooms with shower stalls which are a life-saver (even if they don't have hot water lol). If I am somewhere without a shower, I clean myself up with wet wipes, and soap the best I can. Most work environments have an outside dumpster, and that's where anything I cannot flush goes (hate to be the one who stinks the whole place up by throwing soiled things in the bathroom trash can). If they are plausibly saveable, I usually rinse out my boxers in the sink with soap and water, ring it out the best I can, and put it in a ziplock (else I throw them out in the dumpster). And those go in the wash as soon as I get home from work.

How long it takes is quite a variable thing, it really depends on how much of a mess it made, and how efficient you are in cleaning up afterwards. If you've done it a few times then you can get fairly quick at it lol. If you are lucky then it is no more than a "shart" and therefore cleanup isn't all that bad (change of underwear and a thorough wipe up). However, in bad cases where it has traveled through your underwear and over your pants, then cleanup is much more involved. In the end, it is as long as it takes because normal people can hold it for a long time lol, right (therefore not my problem)?

I think the biggest issue is psychological when it comes to accidents. It really messes with your head (you're ashamed, angry, etc.). You get paranoid and assume others know, can smell you, or whatever. It is just part of living with this disease, and when flaring it is something beyond your control (I've had situations where there was zero warning). As long as you have a change, have cleaned up well, then others are non-the-wiser that you had an accident.

The best you can do in your situation is plan for the worst case scenario (have an emergency kit, have a plan for if it happens). And perhaps have a stiff drink available for when you get home that night, as part of your coping with it later lol.

In the end, I think it is humor that is the only thing that can save us from this terrible disease. Lighten up, try not to worry so much, and even if it does happen to you someday, then it most certainly isn't the end of the world. Even if I poop my pants, I laugh and say it least is was only a shart, it could've been much, much worse. It's happened to me a few times at work and in public; thankfully not in a good long while.

At restaurants I ask for a seat by the bathroom. Usually get up once or twice during the meal (I'm flaring right now)

As for work clean up; emergency kit is a must. With wipes and change of pants/undies.
I actually got caught off guard last week and ended up with a cleaning rag by no wipes. It was even quicker! Lol. Considering changing my wipes out for some cheap rags that I can throw away or save and wash.

Zip lock gallon bag seems super smart.

Yeah, I'm going to have to stock a nice big "in case of poop in pants break glass" type emergency kit. Siiiigh.

The building I work in would be almost impossible to pull off a clean up, even with an emergency kit. Too many people share the bathroom and the stalls are small and they don't have a single one with a sink. I just don't see it being possible to keep something like that contained. I would probably have to clean up as best possible and head home. There is also no access to a dumpster - you would have to leave the soiled stuff in the cans in the restroom. I've worked in places where it would be easier or more difficult. My best advice is to get the flare up under control or work from home if you're having a really bad day.

I disagree, notsosickly girl- it's not so black & white, flare or remission....  I'm not particularly "flaring", yet have chronic inflammation, urgency, accidents from time to time.... All you really need is a gallon ziplock bag, plus clean underwear & baby wipes. I stick the baby wipes in a smaller ziplock sandwich bag, extra underwear & pads in there too, all into the big bag. There must be a  lock on the bathroom door, no? It's awful, but I have just stood there in the hallway when all the bathrooms were in use, & pooped in my pants just standing there! Don't sit down.... so you wait 'til it's free, go in & clean up, change, etc. Then stick everything into the gallon ziplock bag, seal tightly, & off you go. I suppose you'd need to have a purse with you to put the bag in. You can always just throw the bag out later if it's too gross to try to clean! My point is, if I stayed home from work due to the possibility of accidents, I'd be unemployed.
