Yeah I sooo should not have read this.

Your Christmas tree may be adorned with lights and glitter. But 25,000 insects, mites, and spiders are sound asleep inside the tree.

Totally harmless, perhaps yes... ummmm icky - very much yes!

I'm not a bug guy. I'll squish them when man duty calls but I still don't like'em. Haha

that's the problem with the world today - too much indiscriminate squishing - the old shoot first, ask questions later mentality !

as we all know from old mike, pk, and others, there are good bugs and bad bugs, just like there are good zombies and bad zombies - for the bad one's we need to diligently practice tough love - and if that doesn't work, THEN SQUISH THE MFER'S !!!

haha.. I hear ya.

Speaking of good bugs - I've had some decent success with a product called BioGia. It's an L. reuteri strain and comes in a little bottle dropper. Here in Canada I just get it from the pharmacy counter at Shoppers Drug Mart. You have to ask specifically at the pharmacy as they keep it in the fridge behind the counter.

Anyway it's traditionally used for Colic babies... But I found it as an alternative to the Primadopholus brand (however that is spelled) and it's only L. reuteri.

Anyway - works pretty good for me. Was curious if any others had tired it. Maybe I'll make a separate post on it.

Ha! Mine is 2' tall and ceramic! I have way fewer bugs than that...

I can't stand the smell of pine so I will never have a real tree. Yay no bugs!

I never get a tree but not becuase of bugs. I have plenty of spiders in my home as it is, not little ones either, big huge wolf spider type creatures. The types of creatures that should only be seen in nightmares. I thought one was a grape once and when I bent to check it out, I saw LEGS and a tiny head. ugggh. gross!!!!!

One year our fresh tree had hundreds of little black bugs crawling off every day and dying on the hardwood floor around the tree. I came downstairs every morning that holiday season and swept the carcasses up. Nice.
