Does anyone here believe in Reiki? I have a very good friend that is training to be a Reiki Master and half joking last night, I told her to heal my "dots" (the skin issue I'm dealing with). Now I really don't believe it that stuff but when she placed her hand over the worst of my dots, my armpit started having some kind of weird buzzing feeling.

She then moved her hands over my intestines and she said she felt heavy resistance where my UC is. I'm thinking, hmm okay...she knows I have UC so maybe she's playing me. But then she moved her hands over to my right leg and hip. She said she felt some some tingling and burning in her finger tips and also some resistance. I never told her but I have arthritis in my right hip (minor) but my sciatic nerve has been acting up as well.

I really am not a believer but this kind of freaked me out a bit LOL

I used to go to an acupuncture guy in town here - Same sort of thing. He would give my acupuncture, put a heat lamp over me in some spots and do this weird hand thing (Reiki).

I don't think I believe in it but it was totally relaxing and if I was forced to admit it I always felt better and had good poop for a little bit after. I recall having a massive flare once and managing to get to him. Driving home I was like wow, I feel pretty good. Though it was temporary but still. Maybe it's a mind thing or placebo thing. Soooooo...

I think it's one of those you just never know type things.

I don't think I would ever pay for Reiki though unless I had some serious cash to just burn for the heck of it to try out and see what happens.

My friend is a reiki guru. I've had it done a few times, I don't know that it cures anything but I do feel "something" going on. I figure, can't hurt. Haven't tried for my guts...yet...

Didn't know that stuff about Reiki but I have heard that it can help people by relaxing them, which reduces stress, which can help out with diseases that worsen with stress.

I believe in acupuncture and have had many treatments for nerve pain and issues, it worked really well. But to me that is more "substantial" because there was things you could actually see. I call my friends Reiki as using her voodoo magic hands. :) but after New Year's Eve night, I'm half a believer now. Lol

I tried Reiki for a few months, to no avail. Sure, you do feel something, some energy passing.... but it could just be the warm hands gently laying on your body, know what I mean? Plus, it's WAY expensive!!!! I enjoyed it, but... it didn't help my UC one bit. I don't really know if I "believe" in it...

She actually had her hands about a foot above my arm, which is why it was weird to feel something in my underarms. But yeah, I am not sure if I believe either...I'm on the fence with this one. However, if I wanted to, I could have her Reiki me for free! LOL

I paid like $120 once for a session, and didn't have lasting benefit. I really wanted to believe though, and wouldn't rule it out as being able to help. It's very hard to distinguish if it has helped for sure though, definitely.

It wouldn't have any lasting benefit, but our bodies have tons of energy exuded and received continually.

I used to have craniosacral therapy done.....it did make me feel less "buzzy" all over and I loved having it done. I felt all the areas she touched with chaotic pulses until it eventually felt more even. It was a cool process.
Unfortunately, the woman who did it was completely mentally and physically screwed up and died of breast cancer.

just enjoy it for what it is Sherry.....
