I've finally been able to reach my GI doctor's office since they were closed so long for the holidays. Luckily there was a cancellation and I have an appointment on Monday! I'm so excited at the thought of getting back into remission again.
So far since I've upped my Mezavant dose to the maximum of 4 tablets per day I have felt a difference. I'm not running to the bathroom as often at all, probably once or twice a day and no longer have to go at night. My stool has started to become more formed and there were just blood clots rather then the water in the toilet bowl turning red.
I did have a set back today because I pulled a muscle in my back at work so I took Aleve which was a bad idea. When I went to the washroom after I woke up this morning the toilet bowl was full of blood again and my poop wasn't formed at all. Not sure if it's directly related to the Aleve, but I now read that Advil or Aleve can sometimes even cause a flare. So I'm upset at myself for taking one but oh well, lesson learned for next time.
So I'm going to ask my doctor about mesalamine enemas I have learned about on this forum. I am curious as to what she will say because I've never heard of those until now. Hopefully they will get me into remission faster. I want to avoid having to take steroids so fingers crossed.
