It was post-M spotting, which I suspected was an atrophic condition resulting from normal-aging estrogen drop. My mother had developed the problem in the late 1980s, when gyns were Rxing estrogen cream to treat the thinning mucosa. Of course now the hormone is pretty much taboo, and otc lubricants are the recommended treatment, which I found out thanks to Mayo Clinic online. In fact, this specialist seemed unaware of Mayo's advice NOT to use lubes containing glycerin! But I had already found a helpful formula by browsing in CVS, only problem is its runny consistency. (LOL.) The pharma that makes it has an 800 no. for consumer services so I'm going to phone them to ask why they call it "gel" when it is so fluid. Sheesh!
