I have a hard time believing that the enemas are more expensive than the suppositories. There is only one brand of mesalamine suppositories that I know of, Canasa, and there is no generic substitute. Were you using steroid suppositories? You can't use those forever, so you need to switch to a mesalamine like salofalk.

And yes, enemas are an excellent way to support your remission.

I know the instructions on these things say to empty your bowels before using, but not all of us can manage the magic. I say you should use it when your schedule permits.

I use the enema at night.

A 30-pack of salofalk enemas (1g) was about $60-something. For 28 days of 4g salofalk enema is $212. (ok, so my fraction wasn't quite correct but in the ballpark). Are there generics in Canada? My only basis of thinking not is the canadadrugs website that says no generic available.
