i think im done with uc meds !

since my body seems to over react with all the meds im taking and its actually making me more sick right now than the actual uc, im not willing to go on with these meds.

i know theres LDN, but i have to look into getting it in quebec, also those who take it is it just when the uc is active or your taking it all the time?

since the beginning of january ive also been following the lines of the scd, ive been preaty sick with the humira shots and throwing up a lot, lost of appetite and so on a go for the scd,

what else are you doing besides the big meds?

I just started ultrainflamx and I do notice a difference but I think you need to take it twice a day . It's a medical food with good antiimflammatory supplements in it, just a thought.

I have had bad luck with everything except Asacol. Lialda worked for a while but for some reason stopped working all of a sudden.

I honestly do not know if anything besides the big meds work. Sorry to seem ignorant, but I am not much of a believer in natural medicines. I am sure certain diets can help, but I am not sure as to what extent they can help. I wish you the best of luck in whichever path you choose.

sorry you are so down, viv. i feel that way a lot of the times when i get bad reactions to meds. it's always a gamble and sometimes, we lose.

i hope you can find a treatment to help whether it's a medicine or supplement/diet plan.

have you thought about using nicotine??

yeah, patches, e cigs, lozenges, gum. my dad's UC has been remission since he's been smoking. he tried to quit a few months ago and he saw blood for the first time in years. i have them as my back up plan if i can't get off pred.

SCD was only partially good for me. I suggest adding RS (resistant starch) foods, do a search here for threads about it.

Also suggest taking a good quality probiotic every day.

Something you have in Canada that people in US like (but it isn't legal to ship to US) is Mutaflor. I think it's a type of probiotic but do some research on it. Probiotics come in many names and everyone has their favorite. Sometimes it takes a week for your gut to settle down becuause some cause gas.

I personally like VSL#3 probiotic, took it for 1+ years and now I take Primadophilus reuterii called "Pearls".

Ive been enjoying a few drags off my husbands hookah!

My first UC flare was 3 months after I quit smoking. Almost to the day!

So strange.

Diet mods have not seemed to work for me. But I am ferrying.
Mostly gluten free, activia w/ psyllium husk daily, adding in cooked veggies more and more.
