Tryptophan and its metabolite nicotinamide are key regulators of gut bacteria and of pr
opensity to inflammation.
I suspect we all eat a lot of protein and get lots of tryptophan, but perhaps why some improve on
SCD or paleo,they might eat more protein,on these diets than prior to the diet.
That being said red meat is associated with UC incidence.
We could have problems with absorption, or transport of tryptophan,dont know,or possibly
B3/nicotinamide pathway.
Also antimicrobial peptides are made in the small intestine with enough tryptophan, these carry through to the
colon and are still active.
