Hello Everyone. My name is Colleen and I am 23 years old. I just
had my first colonoscopy yesterday morning. I am so afraid. As much as I read,
i don’t understand. My doctor told me I have Colitis. He took biopsies and told
me result will be in this week. I’m reading about the different kinds of
colitis, and none seem to fit my symptoms enough to convince me. Can you help
to understand? Tell me if you can relate to me and my symptoms... I have
suffered from constipation for nearly four years, after the constipation, i
stopped using the restroom.at all. I was able to go 1-4 days without using the
restroom, or feeling the sensation like I had to at all. That has been going on
till now. Just about a little over a year ago, i began to experience anal
bleeding. Sometime with and sometime without trying or actually passing bowl
movements. The blood amount would vary, sometime a few drops, sometimes so much
as to mistake menstruating. Looking down in the toilet and seeing all blood is
pretty scary. Last year in February I had a colonoscopy scheduled, I could not
drink the Golyte so I didn’t go through with it. The bleeding continued so i
finally decided to go. I use to think that because I was young, and out in the
world alone from the age of 16, that, those circumstances would be my excuse,
as much as I’d like it to be, it can’t be... I read of all these other symptoms,
i can’t relate to none of them. I have so much energy. I work two jobs, I have
for nearly 3 years, I am extremely active (not too much in exercise) but i am constantly
moving around. I sleep 8 hrs. A day, I’ve had different eating habits, i even
let go of ALL meats, I was a pescatarian for over a whole year Ive
had a colon clense before (which did help for a month or so), I’ve worked out
daily to help my situation, and none of these helped me. It just continued. I
guess I just have colitis now. And I’m just waiting to hear what my Doc has to
say.
What do you guys think? Feel free to ask me questions to better
understand me? Your advice or story would be appreciated, and helpful.
