Moon Face

I started taking prednisone in September I believe it was. I started out at 20mg and tapered down a couple times. In October my uc spread to pancolitis and my pred was upped to 40mg. I went from 40 to 30, 20, 15, 10, 5, and 2.5 until my last dose on Christmas Day. My moon face has slightly gone down, but not much at all. I keep looking at pictures of myself from before and wonder if I'll ever look like that again.

How long did it take you guys to get rid of the moon face? Did you have to do anything or did it just go away? It's been a little over 2 months since I've been off pred and there really isn't any difference. I've read 3 months from some people and others say as long as they were on it is how long it took to go away. Then some say just a couple weeks. I'm just so sick of this.

I wouldn't worry. I believe it took me 3-4 months after stopping for my face to return to normal. I was on 50mg, then tapered much like you. I understand how you feel with being impatient, just takes time. Of course exercise will never hurt. If you are anything like me you lose weight in your face quickly once you start to workout, and if it doesn't help, well it's good for you anyway.

Mine was a slow progression to going away. It took a really long time for me because I had it really bad and I was on pred for a long time. I feel like it stayed for months after I stopped pred. It did eventually go away though. Yours will too, try to be patient. I know it's awful!

I feel like I had thinner hair while on pred too. I think low iron can also contribute to hair loss. I've been losing a lot lately too but i have a ton so it's probably not noticeable to anyone other than me. At least you're off pred, that's something to celebrate :)
