What tests would I have done to rule this out?!

Sorry to say from my quick research there are no "simple" ways to rule out MAP.

Yep, MAP is so difficult to detect there is no good way to tell if we have it or not.
That is where John Hermon Taylor from King's College in the UK comes in-he hypothesizes that everyone with CD and probably UC has MAP and is working on a vaccine and a better way to detect its presence.

IMO, more related to CD than UC, and while it is detected in a high percent of CD, it is not detected in some, and it is also detected in may non-IBD people.
Cause and effect are not clear. It may just be a part of the more general dysbiosis. This is an area that needs more research by objective people (not ones who pre-decide MAP causes CD).
