Relation between bladder fullness and expulsion of gas

I always feel the gas trapped in the bowel which doesn't come out especially when the bladder is full. When I empty the bladder, the gas just comes out like a jet. So I'm just wondering if there is a relation? Anybody any idea?

I dare not try to pass gas if I weren't on a toilet whilst my bladder is full.

Seems it's possibly that your full bladder is pressing on the sigmoid area, not allowing it to pass easily.

Could be your sphincter won't relax rectally if your bladder is full.

It could be depending on your body position...laying down (right side/left side/back), standing up, sitting, etc. Some positions might have a "better flow-through"

The other thing...you might have continuing rectal inflammation? Are you still on the meds in your siggie?

I never noticed this before my surgeries, but it is DEFINITELY true with my j-pouch. I only release gas on the toilet anyway, but often if I have a BM and think I'm "empty," more gas will come out if I start urinating. I think quincy is right on the money, the bladder and the rectum/sigmoid or j-pouch are all hanging out in the same area in your pelvis, it's not surprising that the "mechanics" of one can affect the others.

I think you both are right that pelvis pressing the sigmoid and the rectum.

@quincy, yes I have mild erosions in the rectum and little redness.

I haven't noticed that with passing gas. I have noticed though that when I have a full bladder and try to hold it, my gut starts acting up too, so the two definitely are related somehow!

How about the other way around? Sometimes even after evacuating my colon... I have to sit and coax my bladder to let the pee out!

It sucks... cuz I can feel that I have to pee... sometimes a little, usually a lot (I drink a lot of water) but it just WONT come out until the poop is totally done...
