Long term use of PPI's can lead to low magnesium, calcium, iron, and B12, and osteoporosis, but unless you are an older Asian woman I wouldn't worry. The first sign of all this would be cramps in your legs and heart irregularities before any stomach twitching. I've been on high doses of them for 20 years and have been just fine. Potassium loss can come from a lot of other areas, but not from the upper GI area I believe.
However, a quick trip to your GI and a blood test can tell you all you need to know.
I wouldn't worry too much, but have him check to be safe.
