On a previous post I mentioned that my Sigmoidoscopy last friday showed no evidence of active IBD which I can't understand because I am having blood with every motion now since my consultant told me to stop my asacol supps and I was seeing blood before the scope. Knowing this is not right I phoned my IBD Nurse who is on holiday .Then I phoned my consultant only to find he is on holiday too. So I am now waiting for another consultant to phone me. This is not my usual consultant but I did see him last November and he told me to use steroid supps when flaring and then mesalazine as maintenance.
I am so tempted to use the steriod supps tonight even tho I have been told to stop rectals. I don't want this to get worse. Can't understand what is happening. What should I do?

Did it show hemmies? How far did he go with the sigmoid scope?
I had a clean sigmoidoscopy scope one time when I was bleeding. Just as he was about
to pull the scope out he noticed some inflammation in the transverse and ended up scoping all the way to my ileum.
If there were no hemmies I would assume inflammation in a different area as a possibility.

Hi Levi
Suffer from proctitis. Report says "Macrosopically normal appearance to the proximal descending colon". The extent of the examination was descending colon. No mention of hemis but have mild scattered diverticulosis. Looking at the pictures I have the descending colon does look normal to me.
Typical that now it is six o'clock in the evening and no phone call.

Can I use asacol in the morning and steroid ones at night?

Don't see why not. I know you can use the Steroid foam 2x per day, so using 1 and 1 should be fine. Are you having other symptoms of a flare...cramping, naseau, pain etc? Oral meds around?

You can use a steroid rectal med with a mesalazine one on the same day. I usually use steroid foam enemas so put the foam in then the mesalazine suppository, at the same time of day. If they're both suppositories then for practical reasons it makes sense to put them in at different times of day though.
I replied to your other thread - my colonoscopy shows disease on the right hand side only (after a severe flare that is now healing).
