Actually, Eva could provide a very valuable guinea pig service to us. How many of us have wondered what really would happen if we just stopped all of our meds? If you're in bad enough shape to be getting surgery, could you actually get worse by stopping all meds? Inquiring minds want to know.

I dunno what you think you would happen, but it's nothing very exciting I can assure you.

I stopped Humira about 2 months before surgery, and absolutely nothing happened whatsoever, same as how absolutely nothing happened whatsoever when I stopped Remicade, methotrexate, etc. The only med that made any difference was Pred; came off that a few times and ended up back in hospital a few times.

Really, you don't get to the point of surgery without the meds no longer working anyway. If they worked why would you bother getting surgery?

@Eva - Good luck, hope everything goes well.

My surgeon told me it wasn't worth bothering tapering off Pred; that I'd be given IV steroids for the operation anyway.

By that stage I'd had enough of tapering off Pred and relapsing again immediately, so I just knocked around on 40mg for a few weeks before surgery. Didn't even try to lower the dose of Pred.
