I don't come to this board often but your post made me so happy for you.  Ditto to what the others have posted about how glad we are that you are no longer in pain or suffering.  Thanks for sharing the good news.

thanks! Not to give everyone this rose-colored idea of surgery... I'm still in a lot of pain, still sleeping on & off due to weird bag positions, still obsessing about "Am I leaking?"... The pain is easily managed, sleep is getting better & easier, & so far, no leaks/smells/blow-outs! The actual surgery was 1 week ago today, & god it was AWFUL. They do give you hefty IV meds, but even still it's rough for 2-3 days. I am feeling better daily though... and it's just strange, I feel beat-up, wounded, etc. But I don't feel sick! I'm tired, but not fatigued. I guess I never realized how much of a toll a diseased organ is on one's entire self, despite my GI repeatedly telling me! My staples come out in 2 days, which should make things a bit more comfortable. I'm not going to be posting a day-by-day account of healing, or how fabulous surgery is, etc. But I feel like so many of you have been with me on this since day 1. It's not as frightening or disgusting as I thought, truly- my worst UC days were far more disgusting!

Ok, I won't! No need to twist my arm.... it's still so new I could talk about it for ages! Glad you are finding it interesting... I know for me, when I'd read other threads like this, someone posting before & after surgery, I always had some small meaure of envy. If I can shed any light on a scary subject, I will!
