So, my husband says he has "diarrhea" today. I think, wow, that sucks! Then, about
20 minutes after he proclaims his diarrhea to me, he lets out a mega loud fart, and giggles. I say, well, you don't have diarrhea! If I did that(with diarrhea)....I'd have crapped my pants! Lol. He can also "hold it" which, I will admit makes me green with envy. Ah, the normal bowel-ed people...even their diarrhea is awesome. Siiiiigh.

Ha!
My husband has a minor cold that is more annoyance than anything else, but he also didn't sleep well last night. Today he was complaining about
what a hard time he was having concentrating on his work and how he really needed to get things done and it was so frustrating, and I had to hold myself from saying, "Welcome to my life dude!" I instead tried to be empathetic. It was hard.
On the other hand, I'm jealous of him for going to the bathroom regularly when I've been lucky to go every other day lately. Heck, I'm jealous of my dog's regularity. The grass is always greener I guess...

LOL! I'm right there with you...more often than I care to admit, what feels like a bit of gas turns out to be crapping myself (with little or no warning of course!). I usually have pretty bad C, like if left alone, I'll go MAYBE every 2-3 weeks. Now that I'm on meds, still mostly C, except for my weekly day or so of D, brought on by oh-so-tasty mag citrate! Believe me, D and bowel incontinence is not a good combination. (We can't seem to find a happy medium, it's either D or C, nothing in-between.)
Totally understand the jealousy factor when it comes to people who: are regular, can tell the difference between gonna fart and gonna crap myself, and of course, those people who have the talent and skill to hold it til they actually get to the toilet!
Thank God for this forum! Until Jan 2014, I told no one (no docs, no family, no one), tried to manage it on my own, and had enormous amounts of shame/embarrassment/depression/fear/guilt surrounding these issues. People here, people like you two, have really helped me start to deal with this. Have now been to docs/tests/biofeedback, etc.
opened up and told 2 close friends, my mom, my therapist. Lifted insane amounts of weight off of my shoulders, and the shame and other "bad" feelings have begun to fall away. 35 years of suffering silently, finally over.

I understand the jealousy factor! I get quite envious when I go into the bathroom and someone leaves a nice healthy deposit in the toilet because they forgot to flush. My hubby had D the other day after eating some bad sandwiches at work the previous day. He had to keep running to the bathroom, but then poof! His D stopped. *sigh* if only it was that easy for us!

Glad it's not just me with bowel envy
Sunny, glad you've found some peace from
opening up about
your disease. I agree, the shame and embarrassment factor is HUGE with this. It's nice to know we are not alone.
