HI there,
I am new to this forum.
i was diagnosed by a GI yesterday, based on symptoms and response to treatment with Anusol with cortisone, to having ulcerative proctitis. It is mostly flaring pain at the "tail end" but not too many other problems for the most part.
GI doc gave me Canasa suppositories. He said that if they work, i don't need to do a colonoscopy. (Longer story, had a flare on vacation last month. i was scoped in a doctor's office on vacation, and the doc there found inflammation...) Last colonoscopy in 2007, whistle clean.
I have had this proctitis, i believe, since 2011.
anyway, i am scared to try the Canasa. I have had a bad reaction to Bactrim, a sulfa drug. One dose and my ears rang off the hook for 3 months. Plus aspirin makes my ears ring like crazy too, so far temporarily.
I am not sure if i can handle more ringing... so if this means i should avoid the Canasa; i am nervous to start.
any thoughts? are there substitutes? the cortisone did help a lot. I would love to fix this problem which has limited my life as it is hard to sit without having heat, and even then it's difficult at times, painful, and if i knew the side effects were temporary that would be one thing but i am afraid that they might be permanent and i don't think i could ever go there with the tinnitus.
I already am on the margin with coping with the tinnitus i have now.
many thanks, and wishing all a pleasant day.
