Had to stop the rectals and the Blood thinner update

I really gave it a good try this time. I was doing nightly Mesalmine enemas and canasa suppository during the day. I was very diligent for the first time. I did it for several weeks and was able to retain the enemas all night. Thing is I woke up to WW3 in my gut each morning. It was so gassy and noisy! I was still having blood and mucus as well. It seems that the rectals just did not agree with me. I feel like I let everyone here down. I know so many swear by them but since I stopped a week ago I am actually doing a lot better.     I also stopped my Xeralto blood thinner. It was a tough call but I was just loosing too much blood. I was going to wind up needing a transfusion again I felt. I know some here will disagree  with this decision  but I felt it was what I was going to have to do if I wanted to hang onto my colon.   I have been almost totally blood free for 2 weeks now and have had 2 iron infusions as well.   I also think maybe the humira and methotrexate are finally working after so many months. My BMs are much more solid although I still have some mucus and go 6 times a day. Much better than I was a few weeks ago.   Going in on Monday for my 3rd Iron infusion and on Tuesday more Tattoo work :)   Lastly my divorce was final last week. So if anyone is looking for a chronically ill 49 yr old man with a slim build(still can't gain any weight), lots of tattoos, and a good sense of humor I am back on the market after 24 yrs.  Not sure how happy I am with it but it is what it is.  

Rectals didn't agree with me either. I just chose to not mention it on here too cuz I felt bad that they didnt work for me. :'(

There are a certain number of people here that can't use rectal meds, don't feel like you let anyone down. Just put it in your siggy so people don't keep telling you to do them. Just "tried rectal meds and they made things worse."

Glad you're getting some improvement from other meds.

Hey we have fans of those things too. We got it all goin' on. I've done those 2 things and many more. I'm a water-fan (every day) and liquid diets (past). But rectals were one of the only meds that ever had any positive benefit for my symptoms although haven't used them in over 1.5 years now.

Now you know they don't work for you and can move on.

Yes I just found the different communities so interesting though. Each place has a unique personality. I have Crohns yet I stick here because I have developed a relationship with this group that I feel connected too. Sure there is a Crohns board but this group is more active and I feel welcome here. I feel part of this family

Rectal meds never worked for me either and I gave it a good effort. Just like any other med, they work for some and not others. Hope you continue to do well with the Humira.

All meds are options we have available for trying. Some agree and work, some are a complete write-off.

No one's a failure to not go through the diets or meds or whatever else is suggested, and certainly not one who has decided to try them and they haven't worked. The meds fail...not the person.

Just as an aside...I don't think Dude would be a good match for you ;-)
