albendazole for parasites -anyone has tried it?

My tests for parasites have never come out positive, but my eosinophils are very high and wbc in the highest range. I also can't put on weight although i eat much more than my father, in fact no one can believe that i can eat so much and i still weigh 47 or 48 (maximum) kg (i measure 169cm). That's why I'm thinking if i could have a prophilactic anti parasite treatment, i'm going to discuss it with my GI next week, but doctors in poland are conservative about prescribing medicines "blindly", so i'm not sure if she agrees. Anyway, i'm quite determined to do it on my own and the anti parasite medicine availalable in poland is zentel (albendazole). Has anyone here been taking albendazole? If yes, did you have any issues with colitis while taking it? I'd appreciate your advice

I feel like albendazole is pretty safe when it comes to antiparasites and very effective. I had a script for it at one point but wanted to hold off to see if we could positively id the parasites through testing instead of just willy nilly taking the albendazole. We ended up being able to lab verify some of the things I have at play and I had alot of healing after treating those things so I never did end up looking at albendazole again. I would definitely pick albendazole over ivermectin. I almost resorted to horse ivermectin, which is the same active ingredient as human but in a paste form and can be bought at feed stores before finding a gi that would write me an albendazole script. Its a pretty "safe" drug as far as drugs go..surprised you cant find anyone to give you a script just to shut you up.

Great thanks for replying Pathogen, i do appreciate your advice moreover that you are an expert on this kind of things. Actually i've found out that i do not need a script for that medicine so i'm going to start my "personal treatment" from Friday. Those stupid eosinophils have unnerved me so much recently, i found an article which says that in uc patients EOs are higher during remission, but nowhere can i find any info what number of EOs would be acceptable for ibd. Thanks again and happy holiday (if you have any, in poland the whole week is free from work because of accumulation of national holidays :)

If high EOs are all you got I wouldnt take albendazole. Very common in UC.

No holiday for us here in the US.. national holiday.. HAH! That would never fly in the land of commerce.

still considering it, on one hand only my EOs are so high and no other symptoms, but on the other hand, i don't know if they are not too high for uc (14% and should be below 5), i've never taken any anti parasite med, can't put on weight although with my appetite i should be obese by now. Can you imagine that many people in poland buy special pills from the russians in order to lose weight and these pills contain live parasites! After such "treatment" during which they lose weight, they take anti parasite meds to kill their inside "pet" parasite. But this wasn't my case really :) Best wishes Pathogen, take care!

Let us know what happens if you decide to go for it. Watch out for a herx if you do indeed have a parasite. Make sure to keep your bowels moving.
