Dr. Hanauer anyone?

Hi. Finally, my daughter is getting closer to her appointment with Dr. Hanauer at NW, and we hope he can help her. She has not felt well for the past 2 weeks, abdominal pain. After repeated attempts for my daughter to see her GI in Chicago, with not ONE call back from him, she is had to contact her surgeon in NYC to speak to someone to help her for the moment.

Does anyone see Dr. Hanauer, who has recently moved to NW?

I haven't but understand he is top in the field of IBD. Good luck and pls let us know how it goes.

Our main doc is a U of C, so we know Dr H. Too. Several personal encounters and my friends daughter's doc.
He is a top dog, and knows most all there is to know. Don't expect him to teach it to you though, he'll fly in with his entourage.. This is a new practice for him, so things could be calmer. The Uof C systems are a challenge. He will have access to anything new, and be familiar with all trials. Watch him on the CCFA site or MedScape. He is gone a lot doing speeches, but probably worth it. Tonight our school year GI in FL was doing a webcast on CCFA,-Advances in IBD-Hard to get time with the big brains.

Katmom, Dr. Hanauer is at Northwestern now. Did you mean he came in with his entourage at UofC? My daughter saw a doctor out of U of C and she saw quite a few residents before he came in....is that the same deal with Hanauer? One of her drs in NY is the same, you see the resident or fellow usually first then the dr comes in. Do you know if Hanauer spends time with his patients to answer all questions, etc?

My daughter was diagnosed at 5 and is now 26 so she has a history and I had thought of Hanauer seeing her years ago, so now that he has moved to NW I hope he will be a good fit for her.
