Does anyone know if there are medical therapies that work with UC but not Crohn's. I ask this because for the last 18 years it was thought I had Crohn's disease but now it looks more like I have UC. Would my medical treatment change any for more benefit?

Mesalamines are not considered all that useful for Crohn's, because mesalamine is a topical med and the inflammation in Crohn's tends to involve all the layers of the bowel wall, not just the lining like in UC.

Not major difference. I have indermined colits and my GI says it does not matter as treatment is same. Main difference is in surgery. With UC you can have J-pouch but if it is crohn's colitis, you need stoma bag.
I am just wondering what made your diagnosis changed. I had first GI thought of crohns but my new GI thinks it is UC. He said I have continuous inflamation from rectum to traverse colon and it is diffused.I also had prometheus serology 7 said crohns and prometheus sgi says inconclusive.
I hear people diagnosis changed from UC to crohns very frequently but not other way so I am interested to konw.
