Doing the prep this time seemed exceptionally simple for some reason. Maybe it was because the Dulcolax got things moving sooner than usual. I had to go to the bathroom twice before I even started drinking the prep so there wasn't much left in me at that point. I don't recall needing to go to the bathroom prior to consuming the prep during any other colonoscopy clean out. Once i started the prep I didn't have to use the bathroom for an hour and a half and the only reason I went then was because I had to pee really badly. After that I had to use the bathroom every 15 minutes for about an hour but nothing was urgent.
As for the results, my colon looked normal, in fact it was the best it has ever looked, until he flipped the camera and looked at my rectum. Ugh! There was a pseudopolyp, mild scarring, patchy inflammation, and hemorrhoids all over the place.
I suppose my rectum inflammation could have caused the lower back pain.
The doctor provided a pamphlet on hemorrhoids noting the causes of 1) straining to move your bowels, 2) sitting too long on the toilet, and 3) Pregnancy and childbirth. I don't strain when I go since it slides on out and I spend about a minute total time on the toilet when I do go so apparently I am either pregnant or recently experienced childbirth which given my body parts is impossible according to what I have been taught.
I did some searching and the only explanation that looked reasonable was the I had rectal surgery in the past and apparently that can be a cause for hemorrhoids.
Time to do some TLC and try to aggressively restore my gut flora...
