Hi everyone,
I was able to bump up my colonoscopy by a few weeks because I accepted a job offer and will be moving soon!!! I have been flaring for more than 1 year, have been unemployed for 4 months, but now things are finally turning around!
I had a laparoscopy to remove endometriosis and went back to the higher dose of Colazal in April, and then I started mesalamine enemas a few days ago and I feel the best I've felt since my symptoms started! I was scared for awhile, the first 6 weeks after the laparoscopy I was in rough shape, my flare became worse, and I thought I'd made a mistake. But now it has been close to 8 weeks since and I am happy, have energy, and am ready to start a new job in a new city! Please wish me luck that on Friday the scope reflects how I feel.
I want to send a HUGE, heartfelt thank you to all of you! You have no idea how much I appreciate your suggestions, guidance and kind words. A special thank you to kazbern for suggesting rectal meds more than once. Being assertive with doctors is hard for me, and that's something I need to work on, but I talked to my doctor's nurse late last week and explained that I've been bleeding (sometimes a lot) for 14 months now and I'm concerned. I would really like to try rectal mesalamine a.s.a.p. to help with the bleeding and urgency. Well, they wrote a one-month rx for mesalamine enemas, and I started taking them Friday night. My Saturday morning BMs had only a tiny trace of blood on them. WOW! I had no idea the enemas would work so fast since the Colazal took 3 months for me to really notice improvement. They've been helping with the urgency too but the reduction in the bleeding has been amazing! My remaining symptoms are milder urgency, constipation and occasional rectal pain, which may be from the constipation. Other than that, I'm doing great!
Thank you again everyone!

That's great that enemas helped you so quickly. I'm a fan too (past).
Best of luck with the c-scope. May all your news be good in the future.

Thanks everyone! I am doing a prep I haven't done before and so far so good. I drank a bottle of lemon magnesium citrate last night. My fiancé laughed at me when I said, "Oh, it's a carbonated laxative. Interesting." :)
I drink the big jug of Nulytely tonight and then my appt. is at 7:30 A.M. EST tomorrow. It will be nice to get it over with in the early morning. In the meantime Reggie (my 10 year old dog) and I are relaxing on the couch and taking naps.
pb4, I hope your colonoscopy in August goes well! I wish we didn't have to do them so often.

you don't - it's your call on how often you do them - do what feels right, but try not to let your doc force them on you -
