After 35 years+ of pan-colitis, I finally (not a good finally) had a biopsy in which low grade dysplasia was found. My GI had his diagnosis confirmed by a local pathologist. He told me this DALM was "indefinite" and recommended making a trip to Mayo to see what another GI said after consultation and colonoscopy. I definitely do not want a colectomy. There is no incidences of cancer in my family. I am 68 and wondered if there was any diet, medication, or non-traditional practice I could do to reverse or at least slow any more dysplasia. My dysplasia is uni focal and my UC symptoms are non-existent (the term "burned out" was used to describe it). I have seen other posts on this forum that were encouraging and non-surgical. Anyone have optimistic advice? Articles after 2011? I read a lot, am aware of the risks, but also don't want cancer. Thank you for your consideration.
