Ive been having some real bad gas issues mainly at night....I find if inlay down on my left side after a little while I can usually fart, but it's never reliable and I always have to have a ball of toilet paper since a little poop can sometimes escape with the gas. It's really uncomfortable and almost always wakes me up at night multiple times. Sometimes I'll wake up and can't go back to sleep for an hour because it's so uncomfortable.

After I pass the gas sometimes I can have decent bm (not solid but a food amount sometimes), sometimes not.

It usually happens at night and the morning....I try gasx and activated charcoal, and also those hot water bags pressed against my stomach to see if it would help but nothing seems to really work.

Any idea what I can do or take to alleviate this?

Just curious what you are doing for probiotics.

Right now nothing...I WAS taking vsl before but it didn't seem to do anything at all so I stopped...I still have half a box in the fridge.

Guess I can restart it and see how it goes....

Gas is sometimes an insane problem with this, and it certainly makes urgency much more difficult. For me recently, I realized I was eating a certain type of gluten-free bread that caused terrible gas. Now I don't have gas which is nice but still have the d. In fact, the diet switch that I tried away from the bread let me to a terrible flare so it was an expensive lesson but I do know that if I start eating it again I get gas. I would guess it's something that you're eating and could only suggest you try an elimination diet...

If you are having trouble descerning the difference between a fart and poop then that means you have uc inflammation that's lingering and needs to be tamed. I've been there, get it, and know how frustrating it feels. Talk to your gi as your uc meds are not sufficient. You need to mix you prescriptions up, perhaps increase dosages, or add a new med.

oh I know I have inflammation iPoop, there's no question about that. :)

My last sig showed pretty severe inflammation throughout my entire colon. There's no question about what the problem is. I just know a lot of my discomfort is caused by gas and I was hoping there's some way of alleviating some of it.

Right now I'm on Entyvio (started 1 week ago, next infusion this Thur), 15mg pred (tapering from 30mg, I'll be at 10mg in the next few days if I don't get a whole lot worse), and Asocol HD (just because I have it, I don't think it's doing much - tried NOT taking it to see if that helps but it doesn't).

I've been on 6mp and remi before neither of which worked.

Peppermint tea helps me. I also use a heat pad to calm my stomach. I do get gas as well and it can get uncomfortable during the night. I have recently increased my probiotic and it has helped. Maybe try taking it at bedtime too.
