UC causes worse hangovers?

I'm a 21 year old college student and noticed something recently and want to know if anyone else had a similar experience. When I had a flare a couple months ago I noticed almost anything more than 3 drinks gave me a HORRIBLE hangover... I would be out for a day with headache and nausea but no bleeding (blood would be normal at time time but after a night of drinking no blood). Recently my flare has been under control and I have no symptoms, as well as my hangovers haven't been nearly as excruciating. This makes me think that flares have some relation to making hangovers worse. Anyone else notice something similar?

Well knowing that a large part of a hang over is dehydration, and anyone having fast bowl transit or loose stool ect will be more prone to dehydration (it is part of the colons job to pull moisture out of the stool for recirculation when necessary..how pleasant lol).

I know that if I drink on a hot day when I may be a little dehydrated, I don't even get a buzz, I seem to skip that part and just go straight to hungover

Which I myself need to remember not to drink on a hot day after working a sweating in the sun all day drinking iced coffees, cause after 3 beers just a couple hours ago, I now have a hangover like headache, so I'm drinking poweraides with a cool cloth on my head at the moment.

I was on colozal for a long time but when I had the flare I was on 30-40mg prednisone for about 4 months and now am on colozal and imuran (150mg)

is it wise to drink alcohol with UC?. I think that is what caused my last flare I had a whisky session at Christmas. Yes Christmas and have only just got things under control in the last two weeks.

Does alcohol cause flares??

For some of us, yes. Not for everyone.

Your immune system causes flares, not food/alcohol. It was only a coincidence; food and alcohol only make the symptoms worse.

Hangovers are caused by withdrawal, dehydration and vitamin loss.

UC can definitely exacerbate dehydration, especially if you alcohol irritates your colon and makes your UC symptoms worse.

Another thing is that you were having a reaction to your medications (predisone) and alcohol.
