VSL#3 High Dosage

I want to see if anyone has experience with taking high doses of VSL#3. I've been taking one sachet (450cfu) per day now for the past 3 years. It has helped with form in my stools. I've tried most of the main stream drugs and have had bad reactions from all of them. I did try the VSL3# DS at one point but I was on mesalamine which turned out to be making my colitis worse. One Dr. told me that the testing done with VLS#3 had people taking 3,600 cfu per day (4 DS sachets per day). I looked up the test results and it was pretty impressive. I'm going to start an 8 week course of 4 DS sachets per day. Just curious if anyone else has tried this and what your experience has been. Thanks

I haven't gone any higher than 2 capsules myself! I think you might want to work your way up to 4 sachets a day over the course of a couple of weeks.

Yeah. You've got to work up to the highest dose slowly.

The most i tried was two vsl ds packets a day. I had no improvement whatsoever on any vsl dosage so i stopped.

I've have good success with four double strength packs (3.6 trillion bacteria) per day. I believe it was what got me through my first flare.

Son diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, was anemic, lost 100 pounds. Pharma drugs did not help, made it worse. Learned on our own how to deal with it with diet, exercise, supplements, LDN. He stabilized, but still had some anemia and wasnt gaining weight. Started the VSL3 capsules at first and helped. Finally took the plunge about 2 months ago with the VSL3 DS. He has no more bleeding, and has gained weight. His family physician said this is the best he's looked since diagnosed (Jan 2010).

He only takes 1 packet per day, but that seems to work for him. We found a charity that helps pay for the VSL3, as he would never be able to afford it on his own. We are very grateful for this probiotic.
