What do I do with my Humira/Simponi Pens?

I've got a small stockpile of used Humira/Simponi injection pens in a sharps container. Medco, my old mail order service, used to take the pens back but Caremark, my current Rx plan does not take them back. What do i do with them, is there a place I can return them to?

You should probably have a sharps container to put them in at home, and my guess is that many pharmacies or doctors offices would let you drop off the full sharps container.

I'd call your GI's office and see what they suggest -- since they're Rx-ing it, they should be able to help you figure out how to safely dispose of them.

Do not just toss them in the garbage, though.

Go to humira's website and there is a program through them that you can get and return the sharps containers.

Hi Indy ! I too have Caremark now. Simponi sent me a sharps container. Prepaid return. Caremark always asks me if I need one. Medco used to send them also. I was told that hospitals will take them.

I've taken mine to the lab where I get my blood work done (which is required while on Humira), any pharmacy around me takes them as well.
