Interesting,but the abstract does not tell us if the people were on meds,which might change the results.
5-asa drugs are biostatic.
Of course all the meds they took to gain remission might mess up the bacteria, also the immune cascade will
cause dysbiosis. One problem is that the bacteria did not seem to recover from increased substrate, so unless
they were still taking meds, perhaps something very wrong with our bacteria. Might be a reason FT works on some.
Or perhaps even in remission the immune system is still trying to kill certain bacteria.
Of course the trial was only 8 weeks long,might take longer for the bacteria to recover,from the dysbiosis.
Also mentions lower Akkermansia muciniphila which is one of our normal mucus degraders that is supposed to
be there. What ever is going on probably not good,and one of the reasons this disease is so difficult to
figure out.
