I'm sick of my butt draining and having to wear a pad and it's a little sore too! I'm not messing around with this, I'm just going to get it done!
Who has had it and was it a sucess, no more draining????

I had the LIFT procedure done to try to fix my fistula. My CR surgeon didn't want to try a traditional procedure, because the position/length of my fistula would have left me with a fairly high chance of incontinence.
Anyway, it sort of worked, in that the original fistula tract is gone, but now I have a very short fistula from the original internal site to the incision the surgeon made during the LIFT procedure. It's a very, very short fistula, as the
opening is extremely close to my anus.
It doesn't cause me any problems, so long as I wipe carefully with a baby wipe after I have a BM (stool passes through it when I have a BM). If I don't, the area sometimes gets a little bit itchy/sore. It never drains. The surgeon said that I could have traditional fistula surgery now with less risk of incontinence, but I really don't see the point as it doesn't cause me any problems.

I am happy you're getting it sorted out. If there's one thing I am thankful for, it is that I do not have a fistula. They sound horrible. Please god if there is one thing I can go through life without, it's a fistula!
I wish you all the luck in the world Linda.

I developed a perianal abscess back in 2009 that eventually turned into a fistula. For me it took a couple of years and numerous surgeries but my butt is now back to the pre-perianal abscess state.
During this time I bought a bidet seat for my toilet which had to be one of the best things I have ever purchased. It comes in really handy when you are flaring as well.
Good luck with the surgery.
