Any tips for finding a job?

After a long break from working I am ready to get back into the workforce but am worried about working with uc. My number one priority is to find a job with access to a washroom. I have a university degree but don't specialize in anything. I'm considering getting a minimum wage type job just to get back on my feet. My ultimate goal is to create an online business anyways. I'm just a little at a loss for what do to. My degree is in sociology and global studies. I have work experience working with individuals with special needs but found that job to be too stressful with colitis. Really I want something low stress with access to a washroom. After that I'm pretty flexible!

I was thinking retail but the washroom situations would most likely be just one toilet and I'd hate to be at the cash and suddenly be like HOLD ON Ill BRB!! lol

Any thoughts on what I should do?

Retail...not so easy to use the washroom quickly.

Home based business is a good idea, but if you can work outside of the home, it's good for your psyche I think.

What about an inventory business or being a "shopper", which requires evaluating sales staff?

Is your UC well controlled?

I worked retail 2 years ago while flaring. I think its manageable if you have access to a washroom. I would suggest working for a large company/store (walmart, target, etc) since they will likely have a large washroom for customers and one in the back for employees. Its also easier to slip away for a few minutes in a larger store.

An entry level office job would likely have better washroom access than retail. What about something in data entry, drafting assistant or something. I think a job where you have your tasks to do and you manage your own time would be less stressful than dealing with the public. Much easier to sneak away from your desk as needed than to excuse yourself from customers every ten minutes.

I'm guessing you are from Canada but not sure. You might want to mention what country you are in as those people living there might have better advice. If your ultimate goal is to have your own online business then I wouldn't mess with anything else right now unless you just need the immediate income and can't wait. Retail has a lot of stress, even for cashiers. If that is the route you go I like the suggestion of going to a Big Box retailer like Walmart that has plenty of washrooms but I would suggest avoiding retail (been there, done that). It might make a huge difference too as to what your current symptoms and family situation are like. I wouldn't give up in the field you are in. Maybe you can do something along those lines but avoid the stress, like maybe doing office work, online medical billing, or something "sideways" from the active participation you had been doing in that field.

I don't think wearing a diaper at any job outside of the house is the answer, the smell of a babies crapty diaper is bad enough, imagine the smell of an adult diaper. I remember when one of my sisters suggested I wear adult diapers and go back to work, I told her to wear one everyday for a week and make sure she crap in her diaper while she was at work and to let me know how that goes for her....she never did of course because after I told her that she must have realized that adult diapers might serve the purpose of not getting crap all over your clothing but it doesn't change the fact that it will still stink up you and whatever place your working at.

Any office job will have bathrooms and the ability to use them whenever you please. Look for admin type work or something. I give myself time in the morning, take immodium, and use the bathroom as needed at work.

Working from home is the best thing that has happened to me. I Know not everyone is lucky enough to work with open minded people who will allow for it but with uc, it is so essential to be close to the toilet and I wrk in a computer related field...there was no reason For me to drive to the office everyday to plant my face in the screen and be antisocial and uncomfortable. I am now able to get to work earlier and I don't have to waste time or gas driving around, the frustration of traffic is no longer an issue... It is great. I am not sure what Kind of skillset you have but I believe there are some customer service positions that are remote. I would look for that if I needed a job. No way I would want a full time in office job after working at home.i am more productive at home anyway.

9 to 5 office jobs.... jeez, I am not sure if there is a faster way to atrophy the body. Quite honestly, I would rather do retail or construction, and be moving around than that.
