Bleeding: is it a flare or NSAIDs?

I have had some bad days but no bleeding for over 2 years. Until now. For 2 months I have taken Mobic, maximum dose, to help get around while I await joint replacement. I treat the heartburn with omeprazole, but this blood is fresh, not from the stomach.

I could stop the Mobic and suffer. Take a lower dose? Take another pain medication, but what?

Any ideas? The bone doctor already knows about the colitis/crohn's and I see the GI in a month.

I think it's really up to me to decide to jump on it like it's a flare or blame the NSAID.

Dx 2010 changed to Crohn's colitis 2013 when inflammation moved up to transverse.

Taking Lialda 2 per day (more gives me chest pain and shortness of breath, subject for another post).
Generic Rowasa daily (MD said to stop enemas in 2013 as sigmoid inflammation now gone--don't you believe it! Cutting back Rowasa was a disaster.)

Mobic is a no-no and can make you bleed.

Thanks for the replies. Ya, I knew about NSAIDS being incompatible with with IBD but the Osteo MD and GP both approved; and I had never heard of Mobic. I guess I thought Mobic might = Magic! Stupid. Lesson to everyone: you have to do the research, ask questions and watch out for yourself.

So I stopped the NSAID after listening to my own post. The GI in a later phone call also said to stop. But he did not mention an alternative to keep me more mobile until the knee gets replaced.

Meanwhile it's not just blood but feels like a full flare. Chicken and egg. What comes first? Can bleeding itself brings on flare symptoms? I suspect I have never really been in remission.

Whatever it is, when/if I get the symptoms under control then I like your idea, Red, of sneaking in a couple of days of the Rx in a pain-control emergency.
