Hello Everyone,

I've been posting a lot lately due to my disease being fairly active. Guess I just need to vent a little more.

I've been on 125mg of 6mp, 4 lialda and mesalamine enemas (Rowasa 4g) at night. Things have been just ok. 3-5 bm's a day with blood occasionally. Until about a week ago. All the sudden things got worse. Now 8-12 (not even really sure) bm's a day with more blood, mucous and d. I had a stressful week last couple of weeks and I think that led to my worsening symptoms.

So finally gave in to my Dr recommending Simponi. Didn't want to go down that road until necessary and I think now is that time. I was diagnosed in 2012 and since then I have never really been in "remission". Never had it as bad as some but never seems to have gotten completely under control either. Just frustrated.... Hope this Simponi works for a while and they come out with some new meds over the next few years. Waiting on the approval of Simponi. (Oh yeah, started a low dose of Prednisone until I get the Simponi)

Thinking of taking up smoking weed to help with the stress of life...lol (kidding but not really)

Sorry to hear about your worsening symptoms and increase in bowel movements. I've been on 40 mg dose of prednisone recently which has helped me. Hopefully it helps you too. As for the weed haha... well maybe a temporary stress relief.

Have you ever tried prednisone? If not, I think it's worth a shot to see if it'll get you in remission, then you can maintain on mesalamine + 6mp.

I have been on Prednisone. When I first started taking 6mp i was on pred for about 3 months. I was able to ween off and the 6mp worked for about 3 months maybe and then symptoms began returning. Upped my dose of 6mp twice, started at 75mg up to 125 now. Got a prometheus test and it showed just under therapeutic range at 100mg. Bumped up to 125 and it seemed better after a couple weeks then started getting worse again.

Just for the heck of it you might want to try a 24 hour non drowsy antihistamine. Stress raises histamine levels which makes our UC worse. It's a long shot but it is a fairly safe long shot. Nothing to lose but the fact that it might not do anything.
