After only 10 months Remicade has stopped working for me. I have built up antibodies already. It worked great for the 10 months.
I'm looking to try simponi next. Has anyone gone from Remicade to simponi without problems and stayed on long term? I recently learned I have skin cancer. I'm not sure if this was a side effect from the Remicade. Anyone with similar problems?

Simponi is an option despite remicade antibodies or remicade never working so hopefully you get response with it!

Not sure skin cancer has ever been linked to Remicade... what kind of skin cancer?

Man... you've got a rough go of things right now it sounds like. I'm sorry to hear of the issues you're facing. My dad always tell me that everything is temporary, and my mom always says that this too shall pass about any challenging things I'm facing. It's true, too.

I can't answer your main questions well because I've never tried Simponi, at least not yet. Keep Entyvio in mind too though, as it appears to be a different form of action than the anti-tnf's, which means it could work even if Remicade and other similar meds don't work.

I have 3 different areas of Basel cell carcinoma. These areas seemed to grow quite quickly while on remicade. I have two options with my insurance company. Radiation or surgery. I'm choosing radiation. I have been told this is the most treatable of skin cancers.
I had such a good 10 months on remicade. I know my system can still work, it's just finding the right meds. It's so depressing slipping back to where I was.

Biologics and several other UC meds weaken the immune system's attack on your colon. Unfortunately, these systemic meds weaken your total immune system which helps keep cancers in check. While no one can say for sure, it is highly likely that your immune system's lower levels while on Remicade allowed your cancer to "come out".

mean ol' cancer! Doesn't your body realize you have enough to deal with!?

Good luck hun. Hope you find a good biologic that gets you back to a happy colon!!
