Really looooooooong shot but i want your opinion.

We all know that UC is in larger colon only. What will happen if we will connect illeum to rectum ( I know it is impossible today )or create same chemical conditions like in illeum. I have read that ileum can after colectomy become a bit like large colon.
So the question is why isnt UC going on illeum and what is it stoping it.
I was thinking if chemical structure of ileum is stoping uc if we knew what it is, it will be great to put that in large colon also.
Really sorry if I have write something medicaly incorrect I am new to this.

These are the kinds of questions we need to ask ourselves: why does UC stop at the small intestine, why does it start at the rectum and work its way proximally, etc?

To answer one of your questions: it is POSSIBLE to connect the ileum to the rectum, but since its the rectum that is the source of inflammation you would still suffer from proctitis and thus UC.

The more interesting question is: would you still have UC if you removed the rectum and simply connected the end of the colon to the anal canal.
