Hi Colgone,,,I've been reading you posts and others about the Lowdose Naltrexone,,,and my son who has had Ulcerative colitis for 13 years feels a little encouraged. He also has developed Pyoderma gangrenosum all over his arms and legs,,and it takes forever to heal, but then gets new sores..never ending,,,His dermatologist told him it is related to having Colitis,,,He is now taking Prednisone ,,40mg for 1 full month then he'll taper down.
He is also on Remicade every 6 weeks...He doesn't know if his gastro doc will go for Naltrexone or will do it.
Could he take it with the prednisone and also while on Remicade...He sees the Gastro doc next week. What kind of doctor would be willing to try this pill if his Gastro doctor won't...or discourages him from trying. It said on a report I read about Neltrexone, that it helps people with Pyoderma gangrenosum...and actually that bothers my son more then his colitis,,,It is unsightly looking, to say the least,,,and nothing has really helped it yet. I bought an Aloe plant with lots of big full leaves...I wonder if putting the gel on his sores would help. I know you're not a doctor, but you have had experience with this drug,,and it seems like it helped you. Is there anyone else who is using it and is it helping.?? He is anxious about trying it....thanks for any response.
